What's one of your favorite trips on your cargo bike?

My kids are of playground age, so our favorite trips are to the Pier 26 Science Playground ("the fish playground") in Tribeca, or to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Both are easy to get to on a bike and the ride over the Brooklyn Bridge on a weekend morning is always a treat. For a longer ride that's less playground oriented, we like to take the greenway to Greenpoint and check out new restaurants or see friends.

How has family cargo biking in Brooklyn changed your life?

It's not an exaggeration to say it's completely changed our lives by expanding the range of where we can easily get to. On a weekend, it's very typical for us to grab coffee in Crown Heights, then go to the Prospect Park zoo or a playground in Windsor Terrace, and grab lunch in Boerum Hill, all before noon. Pro tip: get a cupholder so you can take your coffee with you! That would have been unthinkable before. When I'm not biking with the kids, I use my bike for grocery runs and errands. I call it my pickup truck because you can throw anything in it and go.

What would make biking even better in Brooklyn?

Aside from more protected bike lanes, I'd love for biking to become a bigger part of the culture and community here. When I was in Scotland last year, I saw a family riding a "community Urban Arrow" that the neighborhood shared and people could borrow as needed. That's such a cool idea and I'd love for that to become the norm here too.
